How to use this tool
- Select a JPG or JPEG file.
- Preview the image to confirm its orientation.
- Convert and download the PNG.
Understand the result
PNG uses lossless compression for the pixels it receives. Converting a JPG to PNG does not restore details previously removed by JPEG compression. It also does not automatically remove the background or make a photo transparent.
Try a sample
Try a sample with the tool above, then inspect the output before using your own files.
JPG ↓If the result is not what you expected
The PNG is larger or the background is not transparent.
Changing format does not remove a background or restore detail lost by JPG compression. Use PNG only when your destination needs it; keep the JPG when it already meets the requirement.
Next useful tool: Image Compressor →Important limits
- Existing JPEG artifacts remain.
- Output size may be larger than the original.
Frequently asked questions
Will the PNG be smaller?
Not necessarily. Photographs converted from JPG to PNG often become larger. Use compression or resizing when file size is your main concern.
Does this remove a white background?
No. The converter preserves the visible image. Background removal requires a separate editing operation.
