Image Resizer

Change the pixel width and height of a photo for an upload requirement or page layout. Keep its proportions to avoid stretching; crop first when the required shape differs from your original.

Before you start

How to use this tool

  1. Select a supported JPG, PNG or WebP image.
  2. Enter dimensions or a percentage and choose whether to keep proportions.
  3. Check the preview and download the resized image.

Understand the result

Pixel dimensions describe an image's width and height. A smaller image often needs fewer bytes, but dimensions alone do not determine file size. If you need an exact shape without stretching the picture, crop it to the right proportions before resizing.

How do I resize a photo to exact width and height?

Enter the required pixel width and height. If the original is 600 × 400 and the required result is 300 × 300, keeping proportions cannot meet both dimensions. Crop to a square first, then resize to 300 × 300; turning off proportions instead stretches the image.

Does resizing an image also reduce its KB size?

Fewer pixels often help reduce the file size, but pixel dimensions and byte size are different requirements. First meet the required width and height, then check the downloaded file size. Use Image Compressor afterward if an upload form also specifies a KB limit.

Fit a shape without stretching the picture

A 1200 × 800 picture has a 3:2 aspect ratio. At 600 pixels wide, keeping its proportions produces a height of 400 pixels. If an upload needs a square, crop to a square first instead of forcing both dimensions to 600.

Try a sample

The original sample is 1200 × 800 pixels. Set width to 600 with proportions locked; the expected output dimensions are 600 × 400. The downloaded file size depends on the selected format and encoder.

If the result is not what you expected

The resized photo looks stretched.

Keep proportions when changing only one dimension. If a form needs a different shape, crop to that ratio first, then resize. Enlarging a small image adds pixels but cannot recover missing detail.

Important limits

  • Static JPG, PNG and WebP only; animation is not preserved.
  • One image up to 20 MiB and 25 million pixels. Output dimensions must be at most 12,000 pixels per side and 25 million pixels in total.

Frequently asked questions

Will enlarging make a picture sharper?

Enlarging adds pixels through interpolation; it does not recover details missing from the original. Start with the largest clear source image available.

Why does the height change when I edit the width?

The aspect-ratio lock keeps the picture's proportions. Turn it off only when you intend to stretch the image.
