How to use this tool

  1. Choose a supported PDF.
  2. Select one file per page or enter separate page ranges.
  3. Review the groups and download the split files.

Understand the result

Split PDF creates multiple output documents. To keep several chosen pages together in just one new PDF, use Extract PDF Pages instead. Range previews help catch missing or overlapping selections before export.

How do I split a PDF into separate page ranges?

Choose the separate-ranges mode and enter groups separated by semicolons. For a six-page PDF, 1-3; 4-6 creates two PDFs of three pages each. Use positions shown by the preview rather than printed page labels, and inspect each output before sending it.

Should I split a PDF or extract its pages?

Split creates multiple output documents, such as one file per page or one per range. Extract PDF Pages puts the selected pages together into one new document. For a single shorter attachment containing only the pages you need, choose extraction instead.

If the result is not what you expected

I wanted selected pages in one file, not several.

Use Extract PDF Pages for one output containing the chosen pages. In Split PDF, separate groups create separate outputs. Preview positions can differ from page numbers printed inside the document.

Important limits

  • Password-protected PDFs are unsupported. Use a readable copy you are authorized to process.
  • One PDF up to 50 MiB and 100 pages. Check forms, bookmarks and other interactive content after splitting.

Frequently asked questions

Does splitting delete the original PDF?

No. The split documents are new files. Keep your original PDF so you can create different selections later.

Can the page ranges overlap?

Yes. A page included in two groups appears in both output documents. Check each group before sharing to avoid accidentally sending the same page twice.
