How to use this tool

  1. Paste the original text and the revised version.
  2. Choose comparison and whitespace options.
  3. Review the highlighted differences and copy the text you need.

Understand the result

A text diff compares character or line sequences. It can reveal edits, but it does not determine which version is correct or whether an idea has been copied. Use it as a review aid alongside your own judgment.

How do I compare two versions of a paragraph?

Paste the earlier version in Original text and the updated version in Revised text. Use word mode for editorial changes, line mode for a list or character mode for small spelling edits. Generate the comparison. With Hello world changed to Hello new world, new is shown as an addition. Copy text copies the revised plain text, without the colored markup.

Why does text comparison show changes that I did not expect?

Extra spaces and line breaks can produce differences. Enable Ignore whitespace changes when those differences are not relevant, then compare again. For a large rewrite, compare corresponding sections instead of unrelated documents. This is a text-difference tool; it does not compare PDF page layouts or determine whether a statement is correct.

If the result is not what you expected

The comparison shows many small differences.

Check whether whitespace or line-break changes explain the result. Compare shorter corresponding sections for a large rewrite. Highlighted differences do not establish factual accuracy or plagiarism.

Important limits

  • Highlights text changes; it does not check facts or detect plagiarism.
  • Maximum 100,000 characters per input. Complex comparisons time out after about 3.5 seconds; compare smaller corresponding sections when this happens.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a plagiarism checker?

No. It compares only the two texts you provide and does not search the web or a publication database.

Can I ignore whitespace changes?

Yes, when the ignore-whitespace option is selected. Review the original text if spacing itself is important.
