Word to PDF converter
Convert a modern Word document (.docx) into a PDF you can share. Review every page before downloading: direct export saves page images, while browser printing may preserve selectable text.
Before you start
- Input
- One DOCX; up to 15 MB and 25 output pages.
- Output
- A page-image PDF, or the separate browser-print route.

How to use this tool
- Choose one .docx file, or drop it into the file area. The maximum input size is 15 MB.
- Choose standard or high image quality, then select Convert to PDF. Keep this tab open while the pages are prepared.
- Review the page previews, especially tables, pictures, page breaks and text in different languages.
- Download the PDF. For selectable text, choose Print / Save as PDF instead and select the PDF destination in your browser's print dialog.
Understand the result
The converter reads the DOCX package, lays out its content in your browser and creates a PDF from page images. A PDF download preserves the appearance shown in the previews, but its text is not selectable or searchable. Browser printing is a separate export option that can retain selectable text. Neither option edits your original Word file.
How do I convert a Word document to PDF without uploading it?
Choose a .docx file, wait for the previews and inspect page breaks, tables and fonts before export. The direct download contains page images. If you need selectable text, try the browser-print route and check the saved PDF. Older .doc files must first be saved as .docx in a compatible editor.
Why does the PDF look different from Microsoft Word?
This browser renderer is not the Microsoft Word layout engine. Complex sections, fields, fonts or floating objects can render differently. For exact document fidelity, use the PDF export in the original document editor and compare the result. Keep the editable DOCX for future changes.
Choose a PDF export that fits your task
Use the download button for a ready-to-save PDF of the previewed pages. Standard quality creates smaller files; high quality makes page images sharper and uses more memory. If you need text selection, copying or search, use Print / Save as PDF and check the resulting file. Printed pagination can differ from the image-based download.
Check the layout before sharing
Word and browser layout engines differ. Missing fonts, floating shapes, equations, complex tables, columns and automatic fields can change appearance. Explicit page breaks are used where available; long content may be split across extra pages. For contracts, forms or documents with precise layout requirements, compare the result with Word's own PDF export.
DOC and DOCX are different file formats
This tool accepts modern .docx documents. Legacy .doc files, macro-enabled .docm files and password-protected documents are not supported. Renaming a .doc file to .docx does not convert it. Open the original in Word or a compatible editor, save a new .docx copy and select that copy here.
Try a sample
Try our original two-page sample with a short report, a table, an image and multilingual text. It contains no real customer information.

I cannot select text in the downloaded PDF.
The direct download contains rendered page images. Try the browser-print route and check text selection in its saved PDF. For complex layouts or accessibility requirements, export from the original document editor.
Next useful tool: PDF to Text →Important limits
- One DOCX at a time, up to 15 MB, 40 MB of unpacked content and 25 output pages. Large images or unusually long page sections may exceed browser limits.
- Downloaded PDFs contain page images. Text selection, search, working hyperlinks, editable forms and document accessibility tags are not preserved in that download.
- Layout fidelity depends on your browser and available fonts. Charts, SmartArt, embedded objects, tracked changes and advanced Word features may not render as expected.
- External document resources and embedded scripts are not loaded. Password-protected documents and older DOC files need to be saved as an unprotected DOCX first.
Frequently asked questions
Is this Word to PDF converter free?
Yes. You can convert a DOCX within the stated size and page limits without creating an account. Conversion runs on your device.
Is my Word document uploaded?
No. The file is read and converted in this browser. The website still loads its own software from our hosting; selected document contents and filenames are not sent to a conversion service.
Can I convert an older .doc file?
Not directly. Save the file as .docx in Word or another compatible editor first. Changing the filename extension alone is not enough.
Will the PDF text be selectable?
The download uses page images, so its text is not selectable. Use Print / Save as PDF for a browser-generated PDF that can retain selectable text, then verify your output.
Why does my PDF look different from Word?
The browser may substitute a font or handle page layout differently. Check the previews and compare important documents with Word's own PDF export. Complex Word features are not fully supported.
Can I convert Word to PDF on a phone?
The download works in modern browsers with enough memory. Use a smaller document or standard quality if conversion fails. Print / Save as PDF availability depends on the mobile browser and operating system.
